Both hospitals have Toshiba Xario ultrasound units and digital radiography. The main hospital (OSVS) has a CT scanner and 1.5 tesla MRI unit. The staff includes specialists in internal medicine, cardiology, critical care, surgery, radiology, ophthalmology, oncology, neurology, and avian/exotics. There are residents in both Emergency/Critical Care as well as Surgery, and a well-established internship program with eight interns per year. The emergency service is staffed by over twenty experienced, internship-trained clinicians and the technicians are highly trained in emergency and critical care nursing. Bay State Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Services (BSVESS) is a 7000 sq. ft. building with a large intensive care unit, emergency treatment room, special procedures room, and surgery suite.
The two practices are located right in the heart of beautiful New England, with extensive ocean beaches, a growing and vibrant city (Providence), and a diverse landscape to match anyone’s interests. They are separated by an easy, 20 minute drive. Ocean State Veterinary Specialists has a reputation for high quality medicine and a positive and fun working environment.

Internship-trained emergency doctors wanted at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists (OSVS), a large and busy 24 hour emergency and specialty referral center located in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. The hospital is a 24,000 sq. ft, with a recently constructed specialty center.
We offer referral and emergency services to the RI, eastern CT, and southern MA areas. There is no general practice associated with the hospital.

The hospital places a premium on continuing education. Daily case rounds provide an opportunity for continuous learning. We have in-house education for doctors and technicians, and host referring veterinarians for continuing education forums several times a year. We have a successful internship in place as well as an emergency/critical care residency, which helps to promote a didactic atmosphere and gives the emergency clinicians and specialists ample opportunity to teach others.
The support staff is highly trained and enthusiastic about continuing education as well. The technicians working in the intensive care unit are capable of managing most nursing cases, including those on mechanical ventilation, peritoneal dialysis, continuous thoracic drainage, etc.
This position offers emergency clinicians a unique opportunity to work in a well-equipped, state-of-the-art facility, side-by-side with a large group of specialists. The emergency doctors do not just work evenings and weekends, they work many weekday inpatient shifts as well, giving them the opportunity to manage critical care patients and benefit from the referral hospital environment. The desire to continue learning and to participate in the teaching of interns and student externs is very important, and a good sense of humor is essential!
The opportunity to split time between the RI hospital and our satellite facility in Massachusetts is also available. The clinics are only 20 minutes apart. The case load at OSVS is high and the cases challenging. This is a tremendous environment to continue learning and growing but requires someone with a strong ER foundation (from a quality internship).
Requirements:- Completion of a high quality Internship.

Ocean State Veterinary Specialists (OSVS) is seeking a second board certified (or residency-trained) radiologist to join an already busy radiology service. OSVS is a large, privately owned, 45 doctor, 26,000 sf hospital in East Greenwich, RI, with a smaller sister facility in Swansea MA.
The main hospital in RI has a full-time radiologist who performs between 15 and 20 ultrasound examinations a day, reads all of the radiographs for both hospitals, reads CT scans and some MRI scans, runs the radioactive iodine treatment program, and reads radiographs for referring veterinarians via teleradiology. The radiologist also participates in the teaching of interns, residents, and student externs.
The second radiologist will participate in these activities at OSVS and may also participate in the ultrasound services offered in the Swansea, MA location. We recently added fluoroscopy capabilities at OSVS, and an interest in Interventional Radiography would be useful.
