It’s hard to get a feel for the real ethos of a veterinary hospital from a website. Anyone who spends time in our facility quickly learns that we take our medicine and our comedy seriously. People who come to OSVS want to work hard in an environment where they are constantly challenged and are surrounded by others who want to continually learn, continually get better, and go home feeling like they truly made a difference.
This is a family, where we all share a sense of belonging, a shared mission in offering truly exceptional care to the animals who need it most. If you feel this is where you belong, please get in touch now.

Work/Life Balance
At OSVS, we understand the importance of a healthy work-life balance, and having tenured employees is very important to us. Full time employees are granted two weeks of vacation during their first 5 years of employment. Employees can start using vacation time 90 days after being hired.
Once an employee has been with OSVS for five years, they are granted a third week of vacation. After ten years, a fourth week will be earned. Paid time off is also granted for part time employees, although it is accrued at a different rate. OSVS also offers paid sick time and holiday pay.

Radiologist
Ocean State Veterinary Specialists (OSVS) is seeking a second board certified (or residency-trained) radiologist to join an already busy radiology service. OSVS is a large, privately owned, 45 doctor, 26,000 sf hospital in East Greenwich, RI, with a smaller sister facility in Swansea MA. The main hospital in RI has a full-time radiologist who performs between 15 and 20 ultrasound examinations a day, reads all of the radiographs for both hospitals, reads CT scans and some MRI scans, runs the radioactive iodine treatment program and reads radiographs for referring veterinarians via teleradiology. The radiologist also participates in the teaching of interns, residents, and student externs. The second radiologist will participate in these activities at OSVS, but may also participate in the ultrasound services offered in the Swansea, MA location. We recently added fluoroscopy capabilities at OSVS, and an interest in Interventional Radiography would be useful.
Both hospitals have Toshiba Xario ultrasound units and digital radiography. The main hospital (OSVS) has a CT scanner and 1.5 tesla MRI unit. The staff includes specialists in internal medicine, cardiology, critical care, surgery, radiology, ophthalmology, oncology, neurology, and avian/exotics. There are residents in both Emergency/Critical Care as well as Surgery, and a well-established internship program with eight interns per year. The emergency service is staffed by over twenty experienced, internship-trained clinicians and the technicians are highly trained in emergency and critical care nursing. Bay State Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Services (BSVESS) is a 7000 sq. ft. building with a large intensive care unit, emergency treatment room, special procedures room, and surgery suite.
The two practices are located right in the heart of beautiful New England, with extensive ocean beaches, a growing and vibrant city (Providence), and a diverse landscape to match anyone’s interests. They are separated by an easy, 20 minute drive. Ocean State Veterinary Specialists has a reputation for high quality medicine and a positive and fun working environment.
This position is a unique opportunity for someone who wants the efficiency, independence, and support of a private practice position with the teaching opportunities, interaction with multiple specialists, and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic options most typical of a university. We offer a generous compensation package with production-based bonus potential and excellent benefits including a 401K program. If interested, please send your resume to Dr. Justine Johnson: jjohnson@osvs.net. We hope you will consider joining our family!
