I will never forget the day in May 2020, when my veterinarian told me that my sweet Riley had aggressive T-cell lymphoma. He told me likely she would have 3 weeks to live and my world shattered. I was heartbroken. My vet suggested I speak to Dr. Alexander to better understand Riley’s diagnosis. Bringing Riley to Ocean State to meet Dr. Alexander was one of the best decisions I ever made. Dr. Alexander and his team gave our family HOPE.

While we always knew we were on borrowed time, Dr. Alexander gave Riley the chance to live 8 beautiful months. Under Dr. Alexander’s care, Riley felt better than she had in a long time. You would never have known she was fighting a devastating diagnosis. Riley spent her days getting lots of belly rubs, swimming in the ocean, playing endless games of fetch, bonding with her new puppy sister and so much more. She truly lived her BEST life and we are forever grateful to Dr. Alexander and his team for giving her and us that gift. We made so many memories together as a family that we continue to cherish forever.

We are most thankful for the love that Dr. Alexander and his team always showed Riley. From the moment we pulled into the OSVS parking lot, Riley’s tail would start wagging and her head would be out the window smiling from ear to ear searching for her sweet friend Lynne. I have no doubt that she knew exactly where she was and the love, she soon would be getting from her oncology friends. That same smiley girl left every appointment too. No number of needles or medicine took that smile off her face. It always warmed our hearts.

The compassion and support that Dr. Alexander and his team showed our family was remarkable. Dr. Alexander always took the time to explain everything and answer my 10,000 questions as we navigated this lymphoma journey. He helped us work through some challenging decisions and always kept Riley’s best interest at heart. Even in Riley’s final moments, the oncology team was there to share their love and a kit-kat with Riley.

Dr. Alexander and his team became part of our family that year. While we miss Riley every day, we are forever grateful for everything Dr. Alexander, Lynne, Meredith, and Bailey did for her and our family.” – Michelle D. Riley’s owner
