We triage every pet as soon as it arrives. If the pet is found to be in critical need of medical attention, the pet is treated immediately. Pets that are assessed to be stable are seen by the doctors in the order that they arrive. We do our very best to keep the waiting to a minimum, but like every emergency room, there are busy times when there may be a wait.
Primary care veterinarians are sent an email with a link to access their patient’s medical record through our Shareville portal. They are welcome to call and check in on your pet’s status during their visit at the hospital. The attending doctor may contact the primary veterinarian by phone to discuss the case as well. This ensures that your family veterinarian will be able to help you with decision making and provide coordinated follow-up care.
Due to the high case load of critically ill patients, we are sometimes unable to see patients with non-life-threatening conditions. When possible, we run an urgent care outpatient triage service to provide symptomatic care for pets with minor emergencies or stable conditions in order to relieve symptoms until the pet can be seen by their primary veterinarian. If we are unable to see your pet through our emergency department or urgent care, we will recommend other local hospitals and urgent cares for your pet to be seen at if we do not have the medical resources or space available at our hospital.
During your consultation, you will be presented with treatment options and the costs will be discussed. The doctor will help you to decide on a course of therapy that works best for you and your family. If your pet is admitted to the hospital, a detailed estimate will be generated and you will be asked to leave a deposit.

We work hard to keep our costs as reasonable as possible while ensuring we maintain adequate numbers of high quality employees and the equipment needed to provide the level of care we offer.
